Hirschsprungs Disease

Hirschsprung is a congenital disease or in simpler words, it is a birth defect. It is the medical condition in which large intestine do not have nerve cells. Nerve cells in the large intestine help to throw the waste out of our body. And due to the absence of these nerve cells, it loses the ability to pass the stool through the intestine.

Common Symptoms

  • No bowel movement (stool/meconium) within 48 hours of birth
  • Vomiting (green/brown)
  • Swollen abdomen
  • Abdominal pain
  • Weight loss
  • Chronic Constipation
  • Diahhrea with blood
  • Slow growth
